We're looking for recommendations for a hotel, resort or villa on the beach at Ka'anapali or near Lahaina that will not just tolerate a service dog but will welcome one.

My parents have only good things to say about the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel, but if there are other options that the hive mind can recommend, we'd love to hear them.

Best answer: Hawaiian hotels may not be used to requests to host animals since service animals are the only ones allowed in without quarantine. That said, Ka'anapali Beach Hotel is where locals & people from other islands stay on the West side of Maui (cheapest), so they may get more requests to have animals stay than others in the area. I would call and ask the hotel directly.

Just in case you haven't seen the requirements for bringing a service animal into Hawaii: http://hdoa.hawaii.gov/ai/aqs/animal-quarantine-information-page/guide-service-dogs-entering-hawaii/
