Boys' flannel- or fleece-lined uniform pants / chinos?

Starting this year, my son needs to wear a school uniform - the pants are a plain navy chino (any brand is fine). I am worried he will be cold if we get any awful days like we did this past winter. Is there such a thing as flannel- or fleece-lined navy chinos in boys' sizes?

I found khaki-colored ones from LL Bean on eBay, but LL Bean doesn't seem to have them now (then again, it could be too early in the season). Ideally with an adjustable waist, as he's a bit of a string bean, and available in size 5 or 6. Any thoughts where I should look?

Layering is probably a better bet - easier on the wallet and easier to wear. I wore long-johns under my school pants on the colder days when I was a kid, and there are fleece ones now.

You could certainly give Bean a call -their customer service is legendary, I bet they'll be able to tell you if they're discontinued or just a seasonal item.

As someone who spent a lot of time in similar clothing in cold climates, definitely just layer -- it gives you a lot more flexibility. There's no reason for the bottom layer to be especially tight, and if it's not I found that for putting on purposes I found it works better if you put the 2 pairs of paints inside each other first, shake them out so the legs aren't bunched up in each other, and then put them both on at once.

not sure about plain/navy/chino, but beans appears to have kids lined cargo pants (plus lined blue jeans).

Target carries these at least in sizes up to 5T (probably more), seasonally, in their "circo" brand -- in fact I JUST bought a pair last week (in stores only, says the web). They're a pretty long 5T ... my son is otherwise wearing 6 pants. You might poke around the boys' and toddler boys' sections when you're near a Target, I've bought several pairs over several years.

nthing layering.

I go to school in the Chicago area and longjohns have saved my life. It might be a bit odd having a second skin, but it's worth being warm.

I'm pretty skinny and cloths from Uniqlo have always fit me great. I've bought their heattech long underwear, v-necks, and flannel. I'm very happy with all of them.

They also have chinos.

(ps. they're having a sale on flannel right now: one shirt = $20)

Absolutely give LL Bean a call. Their customer service is indeed great. Their fall products and catalogues are coming out right now, including lined stuff, so they would be able to tell you if they have such a thing - 800-341-4341.

Also, endorsing layers/long underwear, which LL Bean has, and don't forget warm socks.
