Is it possible to make a blog layout like this using Tumblr? Thanks in advance

Sort of. The styling you can absolutely do on Tumblr. But there'll need to be a bit more automation about the layout. The example site has every element positioned manually. You could either come up with a scheme to automatically lay out the items, or do something crazy with a custom field. I recommend the former option.

I've seen Tumblr blogs that accidentally look a lot like your example, with overlapping images. But that's more to do with sloppy code.

I've also seen Tumblrs featuring airy, sparse layouts and they're very similar in feel to your example, but they didn't have the overlapping images.
