What is this thing?

I saw this object on a table outside a thrift shop in a small town in eastern Washington State, US. It is about 3 feet long and made out of hard plastic. It was selling for about $100 and was gone by later that day. What is it? Full view, Left side, Right side. A working theory is that it has something to do with some kind of crafting activity, possibly quilting.

Best answer: That is a tipton gun vise. It is designed to hold a rifle or shotgun while you work on-things like scope mounting, cleaning, etc. Here is a picture in use.

100 is way to high. I got mine new for about $60

bartonlong has it. I also have one just like it. Not sure what I paid for mine, but $100 does sound high.
