How to remap a USB number pad on a mac?

Hello! I am an animator and would like to use a USB number pad for keyboard shortcuts for better ergonimcs while animating in Photoshop. Is there a way to remap the numbers on the USB number pad to keyboard shortcuts like Command+Z, etc? This nice post explains how to do it for PCs, but I haven't been able to find how to do it for MacBook Pros. Thank you!

You can try a keyboard remapping app like Karabiner. It's free.

I find ControllerMate easy to use for these situations.

Response by poster: Thanks for the replies! Karabiner looks good, but I can't find info on the site as to whether it works with USB number pads in addition to the keyboards that come with the laptops.
An internet search revels this update history, and all the way at the bottom there is a note about it now working with "Logitech Number Pad." But Logitech number pads don't work with Macs, if I understand correctly.
So, anyone know if Karabiner works with external USB number pads, and if so, is a particular brand preferred?
Thanks!

If you aren't trying to repurpose a number pad you already own you might want to look at Xkeys which are specifically designed for this purpose.
