A few short hours in Berlin

I'm in Berlin for a conference, and I'm trying to squeeze some time in the city around our program. I've been to Berlin several times before and there is a bus tour as part of the even, so I've got the major tourists sites covered, but need suggestions for late night and early morning suggestions.

I am staying right by the Zoo. I'm looking for suggestions for things to do tonight after 9:30am, before 8:30am, and for a few hours tomorrow before the soccer game that are in the K'dam area.

I'm not familiar enough with Berlin to know the neat cafes or sights or offbeat shopping I can try and squeeze in- any suggestions would be very helpful.

I've only visited a couple of times, but I was chaperoned by locals when I did, so I've got a couple of bar suggestions at the very least for you.

- Geist Im Glas - Great little candlelit cocktail/whisky bar in a ramshackle premises. Really chilled. Just off Kottbusser Damm.

- Green Door Bar - Another hideaway - you have to knock on the door to enter! A little more lively and upbeat inside, and does a mean Manhattan.

- Roses - A completely mental gay bar in Kreuzberg. Worth visiting just for the decor, if nothing else.

- Golgatha Biergarten - Or, if beers are your thing, you'll not go far wrong here. Berlin's not as well-endowed with beerhalls as the Bavarian cities, but Golgatha will show you a good night.

Hope that helps. Very envious! I love Berlin!

Before 8:30am I'd recommend one of Berlin's excellent breakfast cafes. My favourites are Anna Bluemor in Anita Wronski in Prenzlauerberg.

late night suggestions
I really liked walking by the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church at night. It is a different feel than seeing it during the day.
