Display fitbit steps/info on desktop or chrome toolbar?

There must be a simple way thru a desktop widget or chrome extension to display the step count (and perhaps other daily data) from my fitbit on my windows 7 desktop or my Google Chrome browser toolbar, but I can't seem to find it. Does anybody know how to do this? thank you so much!

Are you looking for the current step count or a summary of yesterdays? The daily summary can be pulled through IFTTT.com and then dumped to a dropbox text file or google spreadsheet for further manipulation and display.

If it's a current up-to-the-minute 'here's where I am' count, I haven't found anything. AFAIK, Fitbit only makes that data available via their API to selected partners... probably for volume reasons as much as anything else.
