wget don't like no flash

Flickr. Easy to upload to. Easy to publish. Easy to share. Finding it not so easy to download from. What tools if any exist so that I can do a batch download or otherwise automated capture of my photostream?

Here's the thing -- I could set a wget or siteripper up but it seems that the URL's for my photos do not seem to run in sequential order. So that would be awfully nasty to Flickr's bandwidth and pull an unnecessary amount of pages if I were to just set it loose, at, say, my user directory. Am I missing something obvious to Flickr or is it really supposed to be that hard, i.e., pick every photo, go to original size, right click and save?

Supposedly they're working on including a backup feature. In the meantime, try flickr backup.

A quick search for 'download' on the Flickr forums page turned up a reference to this:

Also, here's a thread I started a while back on pointers to a huge variety of Flickr tools:

Response by poster: Thanks y'all. I had seen the tools collection on a search of ask.mefi but it doesn't have anything good for downloading. RevX has the closest one which I'll try and report back with.

You can also get backup DVDs from Englaze, but they'll cost you.

Response by poster: I would not have reccomended it earlier -- but FlickrDown -- see above -- has had some revisions and has proven to get the job done quickly and cleanly for me. My userbase is saved! Yeay!
