Calling all Network Admins!!

Got a problem here....how can I make the users get the same profile data/settings when logging onto to new domain?

Migrating network from NT 4 domain to Windows 2000-03 domain with Active directory, I'd like to make it seamless to the user when they logon with they're new domain credentials(different username conventions)....namely keeping the same profile settings such as data, outlook data and preferences, etc. Clients are all on WinXP Pro and both old and new domains have a trust relationship but when they currently logon with new domain username, a "blank" user profile comes up. Have about 400 users are so to migrate, so some sort of batch solution is preferred I know how to do this manually but too many users for this.....anyone know how to do this???

You can use the directory migration tool to migrate your users to AD and this will keep their profiles.

Have you already setup your users in AD?

I think at this point you have two options: Delete your users from the new domain and use the migration tool, or you manually copy their profiles. Pick your poison my friend ;)

Unfortunately, the migration tool that AllesKlar pointed out (ADMT) doesn't migrate user profiles (except roaming profiles). Plus, if you delete all your "new domain" users, you have to go through and reestablish all of your security groups, etc. due to SID change.

For the task at hand, you need the User State Migration Tool (USMT). This is the "Administrator" version of the XP built-in tool, "File and Settings Transfer Wizard." It can be fully automated via scripting and "rules" you set up.

I've never used it before, but all the other MCSEs love it.
