Help me identify a stand up comedian

For the past few weeks I've been trying to remember the name of a stand up comic whose special I watched on Comedy Central in the '90s but haven't seen or heard from for several years. I remember very few specific jokes from his act, but recall that he had a bit about making his mom a necklace out of pasta for Mother's Day and telling her, "Now put on the rigatoni!"

He also mentioned that he used to be a (possibly HS) teacher. The special was probably from the early '90s and I think he as wearing black slacks and one of those pea soup colored shirts that many entertainers wore during the era. FWIW, it was NOT Brian Regan (because he wore something similar during his first televised special). Oh, and I'm not sure but I think he might have had an Italian or Spanish surname and he was American. So, can anyone think of his name? TIA.
