How can I find an inexpensive beach rental on the TX coast?

Where can retired Alaska snowbirds find a rental along the Texas gulf coast? By that I do not mean where are the nice beaches, as I know the answers to that question. I need to know HOW to find a rental by the month that includes linens, a furnished kitchen, cable, and internet. VRBO, Craigslist, airbnb, and other sources have failed. Everything I find is daily/weekly and incredibly expensive. I hope to travel from mid Jan thru mid Feb and $900 to $1100 per month seams reasonable to me. The specific location is not as important as price, and a beach view.

I am no expert on Texas beach real estate, but that price point sounds impossibly low for furnished vacation property.

Best answer: Maybe try HomeAway? It's a TX-based company, so perhaps it has better Texas listings. Here's a condo in Port Aransas that meets your criteria.

You might also have luck contacting some of the more expensive places and seeing if you can negotiate a discount for a longer stay. It certainly warmer on the TX coast than Alaska, but it's also not peak season for vacation rentals.

My family has had pretty good luck negotiating down the price for a month rental for places found on VRBO. I don't think owners actually get that many monthly rentals to begin with, and actually they've been willing to cut a deal from the posted price on at least two occasions. My step-dad got a month rental in Myrtle Beach, SC during January 2012 for about what 2.5 weeks at the posted price would have cost.

I think you are WAY too low for monthly furnished vacation rentals (near a beach!!). I would think paying $900 to $1200 a week would be decent. For a month rental you need to be at $3000 or above. You may be able to contact the owner and ask for a rent 3 weeks, get one free deal if they are not booked up but I expect the issue you are having is that your price expectations are way below even the bottom of the market.
