Impossible to have flammable material shipped to Hawaii?

Hello--I'm very interested in buying this spray fixative called Fixatif Lascaux but can't seem to find a way to have it shipped to me.

I tried buying from a couple online stores (Dick Blick and Dakota Art Store), but neither is able to ship to Hawaii--they use UPS Ground and so can only ship to contiguous 48 states.

I thought about trying to ship to my parents' house on the US mainland and then carrying it back in my checked luggage, but I think it's a prohibited item according to TSA's chart. Only personal toiletry-type aerosols are allowed.

I can't mail the fixative via USPS either.

I am wondering how stores in Hawaii get aerosols or other hazardous materials delivered--maybe through boat, but how can individuals get things shipped?

There's no art store on the island where I live so can't special order through a local retailer.

Kind of baffled at this point. Should I just give up on this spray fixative?

Aside from all the things that people dislike about Amazon, what is wrong with Amazon?

Here is the shipping rates page.

Is it that particular fixative that you want? What do other local artists use? Can you order it via an art supply store on Oahu? Can you have it shipped to your parents and have them send it surface mail, ie by sea? (or maybe that's not a thing within the US) Is your artwork really special or can you use hair spray?

Continental US = Continental US states not including Alaska and Hawaii

Amazon can be a bit inflexible with postal charges, for many items part or all of the postage is built into the base price.
However, it is worth trying to contact the seller - with any luck they will agree to add a separate listing for you (with a higher price) that allows postage to the region you want.

Yeah. I get that.

Amazon will ship outside the 48. However, you have to test the order with your item and your account. There are restrictions, some of which are obvious, and others, no so much. It is sort of a process where you enter the item in an order, enter the address and see if it takes.

Then, of course, there is the particular Hawaiian Island you are on. Once (or if), the item is delivered from the mainland, it may have to be shuttled to one of the other islands.

I bet the local hardware store could special order it. Or try Ben Franklin crafts.

Response by poster: I can try Amazon.com, but there have been quite a few items that seemed pretty safe to me that they would not ship to my address.

Also the two listings are through third party sellers, Jerry's Artarama and FineArtStore which are similar to the other two art supply online retailers so I figured the same shipping issues would apply.

Response by poster: Even if I asked the only specialty art store on Oahu to order it, I'd be in the same situation because I'd have to fly it with me or mail it.

We don't have a craft store on my island, but I can try asking Ace Hardware.

Response by poster: I asked Ace Hardware/Ben Franklin Crafts, and they said they would only order items in their catalog, and this item is not included. Darn!

I got excited when I saw that UPS allows for shipment of flammable materials, and I was willing to pay a premium for this, but then I found out that it's only for businesses that have some sort of contract with them.

Does anyone know of businesses that specialize in shipping hazardous materials? Maybe I could ship the item to them and ask them to ship it to me.
