Best Christmas light displays near Hopkins or St. Louis Park Minnesota?

I'd like to take my mother-in-law on a drive Christmas Eve to look at Christmas lights. What neighborhood should we go to in the Hopkins/St. Louis Park/Minnetonka/Edina area near the Twin Cities?

I'm looking for the kind of neighborhood that's known for having great light displays. My mother-in-law has mobility issues, so I'm looking for someplace we can drive around -- no walking. Thanks!

Best answer: I always loved driving around the lakes (Isles particularly) - more restrained than what you might be looking for, but just beautiful.

Lights in the park is very good although it's in St. Paul. So is Summit Ave, but that's more looking at people's personal displays. You could always drive around the lakes too, I'm sure people have nice displays around lake Calhoun

Best answer: If you want to make it a quick spin, just check out some of the ritzier neighborhoods near you, because I'm sure Minnetonka and Edina are gonna have some real nice spreads, but they might be few and far between. Maybe Wayzata?

If you want it to be memorable, what I'd do is take the freeway to Kellogg, drive around the Cathedral from the east, pick up Summit and head west until you hit the river, take a right (south) at E. River Road, cruise that until you get to Franklin. Cross the bridge on your left, and either take the secluded right to get on W. River Road and follow that back down to the Falls, or if you're thoroughly sick of Christmas lights at this point, start heading back.
