SDHC card on Treo 650

Yes, I have an old phone, and I want to keep it. I also want to play music on it from an SDHC card. The Treo 650 does not read SDHC cards. Apparently, the Treo 680 does, and some people installed the card slot driver from the 680 into the 650 with success. Unfortunately, all the links in the websites that describe doing that are now dead.

Does anyone know where I can download that driver?

Is installing it in a 650 very dangerous? A couple of those old sites warned about possible phone brickage, but there aren't any that say it's definitely a bad idea.

I would use a regular 4GB SD card, if I could find one.

Have you tried using the wayback machine?

I don't think you can download the actual drivers from the wayback machine as the one he is pointing to are behind a login. However, you can see the files that he used, specifically :

FAT32.prc, slotdriver_sdio-sdsd.prc, and Smarttextengine_Device.prc

If you throw those into google there are some hits. I don't look around enough to see if you can get to an actual download - but it's a start.

Response by poster: Thanks, ill3. I found and downloaded those three on a Japanese website that was one of only three search results. I'm going to wait a while before installing them, to see if anyone comes back with personal knowledge.
