Complications of a rebreak of a boxer's fracture, 2 weeks post-surgery.

2 weeks ago, I had surgery to repair a boxer's fracture, during which a plate and 7 screws were inserted. I recently was doing some push-ups (VERY dumb idea), and it appears I've rebroken it, as the pinky knuckle is now sunken. Can it be fixed again, or am I screwed?

This is absolutely a question for the surgeon. They know your exact situation, and would be qualified order a radiograph and potentially to actually go back into your hand and find out.

Thank you.

Very glad to see you already have a follow-up doctor's appointment!

For what it's worth, though: I wound up with a boxer's fracture ~6-8 years ago. The orthopedic surgeon told me that the accompanying pinky/5th knuckle would remain permanently sunken, and it has definitely stayed that way although the fracture has long since healed. Are you sure that your surgical intervention restored your pinky knuckle to its original position, or is there a possibility you didn't notice it was sunken at all until now?

Response by poster: Yes. The knuckle was back in place. I'm just hoping the doc can put it back in place again. I reckon I'll be finding out tomorrow for sure. I was just looking for some feedback in order to calm my fears. Thank you for the response.
