Looking for a support group in Los Angeles for girls/women with depression

I am 23, female. I am looking for a support group for young women around my age who struggle with self-harm, major depression, etc.

I really would prefer something geared towards women my age but if that is not available, I would definitely be open to something else.

I am new to the city and majorly depressed, alone, and struggling. I don't have a lot of money for therapy so other suggestions are welcome.

Do you have insurance? If so, your insurance company may offer something. In my experience, therapist-run groups are significantly more helpful (and more stable) than self-run groups.

If you don't have insurance, UCLA offers sliding scale therapy with PhD students starting at $30/hour - info is here.

USC also provides low cost therapy - $20 per session, but it looks like they occasionally charge even less than that - info here.

Edmund D. Edelman Westside Mental Health Center is part of the L.A. County Dept. of Mental Health. Lots of services, sliding scale (maybe even no-cost), etc. They probably have other locations, too.

The county's Call211 website has many resources, or I think you can also just call 211 from your phone.

You can do a search for group therapy on the psychology today website. http://m.groups.psychologytoday.com/rms/prof_search.php?utm_source=PT_PsychToday_Mobile&utm_medium=House_Link&utm_campaign=PTM_TopNav_Find_Therapygroup

You are looking for a "process group" at the free clinics in Los Angeles...

There's one in WeHo, one on Hollywood Blvd near Gower, and one near Paramont Studios... They all have different names, but they are under one umbrella...

WeHo branch info HERE.

Just call them and ask for info on support or process groups!
