looking for a chair that folds in three

When I was little I had this chair that folds into three parts (upper for your back, middle for bottom, and a lower part for legs). When you need to store it all folds up. The "fabric" was a bunch of plastic/vinyl "tubing" pieced together. I'm trying to find something similar but can't find it. It could be best categorized as beach furniture or maybe patio furniture. This one comes pretty close: here, but I can't find anything else similar to it. Any ideas?

Best answer: Try searching using "deck chair" or "lounge chair".

Best answer: Is this the kind of chair you mean? If so, they have them on ebay but I'm sure you could probably find them at thrift shops as well.

Best answer: I found a few on eBay by searching for the keywords folding chaise lounge. (Though technically it should be chaise longue. )

Best answer: Here's another one on eBay. Include "vintage" or "retro" in your search terms.

Response by poster: Oh, nice. These are exactly what I was looking for! Where in a department store would I be able to find similar chairs? Sounds like patio furniture?

ahh...they still make those...but you won't find them in a department store....look at the drug store (like Rite Aid or Walgreens) in early summer. They're definitely a seasonal item.

They call those 'banana lounges' in Australia.

You could try a large hardware store. That's where I bought mine last summer (in Australia).

Best answer: They're hard to find because the folding camp chairs are easier to pack and carry and about a million times more comfortable. If you're not dead set on the retro style, you can pick up a camp chair at practically any large store, with the rest of the outdoor/camping/etc. stuff (look for tents). I find that getting a separate folding footstool is a little bit sturdier than the built in footrest, but you can find both kinds.

Response by poster: Nah, I wasn't going for retro style, just looking for something portable that I can sit back to lounge and read in. I don't have a sofa so I'm looking for a cheap light alternative. Home Depot has this that looks promising: here.
