What does a non-leather guy wear to a fetish ball?

Need some ideas for a simple costume I (male) can wear to a Fetish Ball this Halloween that isn't so BDSMish.

Basically looking for the male version of this question from 2009, http://ask.metafilter.com/135749/BDSM-costume-ideas-please. I'm a larger male, 6ft, 220lbs, fairly muscular but wouldn't feel comfortable in something skintight or shirtless.

I have longer (for a man), shoulder length dark hair and have a pretty full on beard going right now but I'm fine shaving it.

Help me Metafilter!

You can always wear masks. Lots of mask ideas depending on what you are into, including gas masks (which is probably more BDSM-y) to dressing as the Phantom of the Opera to a simple white half mask.

Also vampires are pretty fetish-y? Or maybe they're just more goth. Get a cape, some fake teeth, and white makeup. No need to be skin tight or shirtless. Talking might be difficult though. Also, go more for "Interview with a Vampire" than "Twilight."

Or maybe a circus training? Put on some kickin' boots and carry around a whip. Or basically any other profession where you can carry around whips, handcuffs, etc.

Black military cargo pants/jacket have handy pockets for toys. Leather gloves are a nice accessory ;)

It's pretty common to see guys in authority-figure-type uniforms or outfits reminiscent of that, usually in black or dark colors. Add a leather wrist cuff or two. Boots are a must.

He-Man? Conan? Or some similar cosplay.

Can you clarify: Are you looking for a racy halloween costume, or are you looking for a sexy outfit to wear to a fetish ball that happens to be on halloween?

My goto costume? Mayhem from the insurance commercials. Cheap suit, a bandage or two and some plausible but horrific catch phrases? you got a costume dude.

A kink party on halloween is as phony as a toupee. So don't worry about being all Tom of Finland.

Considering your build and hair you could do a lumberjack look, but sleaze it up. Cut the arms off a plaid shirt. Open your shirt to give a nice view of your chest. It is a costume, but it isn't high holy kink. So it should work.

A gorgeous, slim-fit tux, perfectly shined shoes, your hair tucked behind your ears, a plain black mask, and high quality, soft leather gloves. And a riding crop for good measure.

Essentially, a fetish version of Matthew Crawley.

A fine idea, but a tux that fits that well and looks that good is going to exceed a typical single-event costume budget. (I don't usually see rentals this nice, and even those get pricey.) Not to mention the gloves and crop. And a cheap or ill-fitting tux kind of ruins it and starts to feel more like a Mage LARP at GenCon than a fetish ball.

But if you already have such a tux, this is a suitable and very convenient approach.

Furry costome of choice - or just go with ears and a tail. Might send off the wrong idea, but it is very much a subculture of lots of things, sexual fetishes included.

On an even more light-hearted note, dress up as a fox and go 'yiff yiff' on people. Might turn out to be amusing or extremely awkward.

My old coworker Ernest Greene used to go to kink balls dressed pretty much like you see him there.

There's a tradition, especially for British kinksters, of the well-dressed Master in a black suit. It's pretty easy to pull off.
