Help me remember an old board game about a haunted house

At a recent meetup, we played a cool game called Betrayal At House On The Hill. It reminded me a lot of a similar board game we used to have when I was a kid, but I cannot remember the name of it.

The game involved exploring an old haunted house, although I can't recall much of the premise or game mechanics. The "board" consisted of separate room pieces which were placed as the the game progressed (or perhaps the board was constructed randomly at the beginning of the game, a la settlers of catan). The rooms were named things like laboratory, ballroom, kitchen, dungeon -- think Clue but creepier with cobwebs and skeletons.

The room pieces were all squares of the same area, but were folded up into boxes of various heights, corresponding to different floors of the house. There were little plastic staircases that connected rooms of different levels. There were also little plastic treasure chests that you could open up and would either have gold or spiderwebs inside.

This would have been late 80's, early 90's, and I would guess that the game was relatively new when we played it. Google gave me nothing. It is not this game, nor is it any game listed here. I also searched for quite a while on boardgamegeek to no avail.

Anybody know what game I'm remembering?
