Commuting to Los Gatos from San Francisco?

Is there any way of using public transit for commuting to Los Gatos from San Francisco? I'd love to use Caltrain and some sort of shuttlebus combo, but have had a lot of trouble finding the correct combination of services.

I've tried mapping the trip using transit.511.org but it doesn't seem to include Los Gatos in it's coverage area. I'll be working down there beginning next week, and would love to avoid driving as much as possible.

I just used 511's Trip Planner for a San Francisco->Los Gatos trip just fine.

If you want a useful response, you'll need to give neighborhoods or nearest major intersections.

Here are the Valley Transportation Authority routes that serve Los Gatos.

Best answer: Santa Clara VTA bus routes in Los Gatos. Navigate through there to look at route maps and such.

Looks like you will probably have to go (BART or MUNI to) Caltrain, get off at San Jose Diridon, and connect to the newly-opened Vasona Light Rail (also run by VTA), and then maybe buys or shuttle depending where you need to go. I will warn you: Light rail is slllooooooowww, doesn't run all that often, and switching between transit agencies like that can be a pain. But it gets you there. Eventually.

Driving isn't so bad if you take 280. I've found that to be less congested than 101. YMMV.
