Can I bring my 18+ year old friend to this Chicago B.L.U.E.S club?

Will someone under 21 but older than 18 be allowed in this Chicago bar with me, called B.L.U.E.S., on Halstead?
I'm an old music fan visiting Chicago and invited a music friend, a college student, to join me fora show at the club called B.L.U.E.S., on Halstead Street (that I first visited around 1980). It is just a bar with a stage.
Yesterday, I realized he is under 21 years old. I called the club but only got a long recording with no answer to my question. I called again after 7 PM, but still no one answered. I sent emails to the contacts, even the webmaster, of the website, but no answer. Anybody know if I can get him in?

First, great place to see music! Used to live a few blocks from there and went often. I do not know for sure about B.L.U.E.S., but when I am trying to do the same sort of thing with an underage person, I find that a lot depends on if the place serves food (dinner). If you go before the show and get a meal, often you can stay with an underage person. I never purchased food there, but I can tell you their whiskey and ice works well. Also, I do not know your friend obviously, but as the parent of a college student, I would be surprised if that student did not have ID that would get them in.

Best answer: No. I was there the other week and saw someone not being let in because they weren't quite 21. It looked like they were a group of foreign students, most of whom were 21, but they had zero leniency for the one kid who wasn't.

Concerts that admit people under 21 are normally listed as such. You can filter the music listings in the Chicago Reader web site by age limitation. Nothing for blues this week, unfortunately.
