Identify this font?

Can you identify the font used in this image?

I tried Identifont, but it didn't give me a good match. If you could recommend something similar, that would be helpful too. If it is free, that is even better. Thanks in advance.

I would say it's most likely Trajan.

I deskewed it somewhat and What The Font suggested Pontif, but the serifs on the T are wrong. The hive beat me to it, I think, with Trajan -- the goofy long leg on the R gives it away.

Definitely Trajan. The lack of serifs on the shoulders of the N and M give it away.

I'm pretty sure Optimus Princeps is a knock-off of Trajan.

i was gonna say pontiff. but ya i clicked on the other links and it does really look like trajan.

Trajan is pretty distinctive because it comes from a specific real-world instance.
