Help me find a specific Japanese-language travel/food tv show

Last winter when I was in Seoul, Mr. Holloway and I found ourselves watching some TV in our hotel room. I don't remember if we were on a Japanese station or if it was a random occurrence, but we came across a travel/food tv show episode featuring two hilarious Japanese women (maybe in their early 30s?) who were visiting an onsen in a snowy environment. I would love to find it again and watch more, if they have done other episodes. More details inside!

Here's what I remember about the episode:

It was definitely a standalone show, not a travel segment within a variety show or anything like that.

It was definitely in Japanese (I know Japanese and can easily differentiate it from other languages) and they were in Japan. There were English subtitles as well.

The show focused on two women who were traveling around the country, both who were very boisterous and hilarious and energetic and AWESOME. My husband and I joked about how pretty much everything these ladies encountered was deemed the most beautiful, the most extravagant, the most delicious, etc.

In the episode they visited an onsen in a snowy, maybe mountainous region. They stayed overnight. Their room had an outdoor hot springs tub, which they spent much time sitting in and cooing about the beauty of the scenery.

They also visited the buffet at the onsen's lodge. One of the two ladies was particularly fond of food and went back for many rounds of items, and the other lady made fun of her the whole time for pigging out. Everything was vegetarian. I remember a LOT of exclamations about how wonderful the tempura vegetables were.

Please help me figure out what show this might have been and who these ladies are! I really liked the style of the show and would love to watch more.

Is it Dangan Traveler?

Best answer: This is actually a pretty common format for travel shows, so it's difficult to narrow down who the ladies might be. Tabizukinchan comes to mind, which has various female comedians travel around together, or it could have been Souda, dokka ni ikou, similar but with male comedians as well. (Or it could have been pretty much any other travel program filmed in Japan.)

As Sar hinted at, you are describing at least 25% of the shows on Japanese television. This is not an exaggeration. They visit a snowy onsen in every episode, except for the episodes where they visit a seaside onsen or a mountain valley onsen. So, while it is nigh impossible to pinpoint this particular show, the good news is that you now know that you like a sizeable percentage of Japanese broadcast television. You may wish to subscribe to TV Japan through your cable/satellite provider, although you will not have the benefit of English subtitles.

Response by poster: Dangit! I figured that might be the case but thought I would try anyway. I have watched a non-insignificant amount of Japanese tv and these two ladies had a different personality than any other shows I've seen, so I was hoping I could narrow it down.

You could try some Googling with these Japanese phrases:

温泉 onsen
旅 trip
ビュッフェ buffet
雪 snow
山 mountain
女 woman 女性 woman
二人 two people
芸人 芸能人 タレント tv personality/"talent" or お笑い comedy コンビ duo/combination (although in a travel show it could be any two personalities)
テレビ TV 番組 show

Here is one list of Japanese comedians / talents.

If you can describe their features a little more, or what kind of jokes they were making, I might be able to make a stab at it. Or define "different" personality?
