Jazz ad lib tool

Know any free tools or software that will play a chord progression for me?

I have a jazz band gig on saturday and would like to practice ad libbing solos on my own. I have a couple solo sections and chord structures to go along with them. I'm looking for something that would play the chords for me, maybe even allow me to put in a rhythmic pattern to it that I could play over. Kinda like instrumental karaoke.

Any freeware, plugins, internet tools, etc. that anybody swears by?

If you have an ios device, garageband does that.

You can also download the free demo for Ableton Live and use its chord and arpeggiator plug ins.

Spotify has dozens of Jamey Abersold Play Along recordings, which are going to be far superior to some cheesy synth beat for your purposes

A couple of free things that do what you're looking for:

Impro-Visor
Jam Buddy

Neither is very polished, but they work.

If I were you I'd probably pay a bit of money for a phone/tablet app such as iReal b, which actually sounds pretty good.

I use iRealB. You can write in a set of changes easily and play back an accompaniment in a variety of styles in any key or tempo. There a ton of tunes for download on the forum.
Also the venerable BandInABox which I used for years.

There are a lot of Aebersold tracks on Spotify, if that helps.

Band in a Box is probably the longest lived program that does this. I've had/used it for many years. You can often find big zip files of real book tunes for BIAB online. It sounds kinda cheesy but it works fine.

Chordbot on Android is great, and has a Lite version - the Pro version is $5, so not breaking the bank, if you decide to purchase.
