What butterfly is this?

This attractive butterfly was just in our northern new jersey driveway, sipping from some crushed crabapples.

Wingspan was about 2 1/2 - 3 inches (6-8 cm). The color in the image are misleading--the pale blue on the lower wings was actually an iridescent green, and very striking. The underwing seemed to be brownish with spots, like a painted lady underwing.

Best answer: It's a red spotted purple. I'd link, but I'm on my dang phone.

Response by poster: Thanks, all.
The butterfly let us approach quite closely. It may have been a little drunk on applejack,

I've seen them be pretty bold, myself.
