DC Carefirst Dental HMO patients: dentist recommendations?

I have DC Carefirst BCBS Dental HMO, and a moderate fear of dentists. Can you recommend a dentist who takes my insurance and isn't a nightmare? Bonus for in-network oral surgeon recommendations.

My previous dentist stopped taking my insurance, so I need a new one. I also need to get my wisdom teeth out soon, so I'm more anxious than usual about going to the dentist. I have searched online, but online dental reviews are almost exclusively bad reviews, which isn't helping me stay cool and collected about this.

If you have the same dental insurance, please let me know about your dentist (good or bad)! I don't think I can go to an out-of-network dentist, because I'll need an in-network referral to an oral surgeon for my 4 impacted wisdom teeth.

Yes! Dr. William Thornton of Thornton & Rusk in downtown DC is great. (Dr. Almo in Cleveland Park is also fantastic but I don't think he takes Carefirst.)
