Setting up a new reader account and was looking to ask the glorious hive mind for some recommendations. Some of my interests:...

Food: I like Michael Ruhlman, Harold McGee and New Orleans stuff. Also interested in pickling and food history along the lines of Mark Kurlansky.

Music: Have I strong interest in Soul/Funk/R&B music, record collecting, recording and recording equipment (especially for bargains but also just documentation of interesting old gear, synths, guitar stuff, etc). I'm also into hip-hop, krautrock, afro-beat, indie rock (if you will)

News: I like the atlantic

Web/business stuff: have been getting into web design and starting my own business. I like stuff thats more general philosophy i.e. derek sivers and seth godin but am also looking for more practical stuff, fonts,.

Art: I like vintage photography like how to be a retronaut and physics based things which push boundaries like theo jansen.

History: I really like Adam Curtis' documentaries, Manuel de Landa, Zinn, and TJ Jackson Lears

Sports: I like retrospective pieces along the lines of ESPN's 30 for 30

Food-wise, I'll throw in a plug for Ideas in Food, lots of emphasis on "molecular gastronomy", but a whole bunch of stuff you can do in your own kitchen too.

For old, quirky, photos, I really recommend Black & WTF -- they're not super arty, but they really are all kinds of awesome.
