sticky-uppy, poofy, polished, soft, cool hair?

I am loving Tina Marjarino's hair in the new Veronica Mars Movie clips & promo pictures. How do I get my hair to do this (seen here as well)? I don't know what to even call it to use my google-fu! I just know that it is fabulous and I need to do it. Currently I'm growing out a pixie, so I should have the correct amount of hair. Sorry for such a silly question!
Best answer: I think that style is basically an extreme pompadour, with much shorter sides?

That looks like a version of Miley Cyrus's hair to me! The cut is key.

This was my 5 second hairdo when I had long hair. My hair is fine, and that, I think, is the key. Heavier hair won't do it easily and will require so much stiffening product as to look very 'staged'.
Grow out the front so it is as long, or almost, as the back. Though it looks like she might have an undercut on the sides (i can't access the second pic).No bangs. And it worked best on the day after washing when there was a bit of natural oils to help set it.

Best answer: Hey, this is my hair! The hair in the photo is a bit longer than mine, but I do my hair in a rockabilly pompadour pretty regularly. thinkpiece is right - the cut is KEY. I got mine in shape for this style by bringing this photo to a very, very good stylist. She did a lot of texturizing in the portion of my hair that remained long. Warning - I wanted the obvious mohawk shape in the back of my hair, so adjust accordingly. At completion of the cut, however, I could make my hair lay down into an extremely cute style (if I do say so myself) that was very close to office-appropriate, even with the mohawk shape in back.
Once you've got the basic shape with your killer cut it's all about what products work for your hair. I'm presently obsessed with this texturizing powder, which has replaced a battery of different products and is my go-to when I want to make my hair stand up without loading it down. It's a bit pricey, but I'm still on my first bottle and I've been using it now for about 6 months.
My routine is: wet hair - apply a pea-sized dollop of this hair glue, dry while holding the hair up as I do so, tease a little bit if I want it extra-extra-high, and then use the powder. It's magic - you just shake a little bit on and it mattifies your hair, so you can move the hair into whatever shape you want. Finish with a touch of hairspray and you're set! It's easier than it sounds, promise.
