Notification of xbox live messages

Is there any way to get notification of xbox live messages via text message, email, instant message, or social network message?

There's an official app for Android, but it's doesn't have system-level notifications so it has to be open, and it almost never is. There's also an unofficial addon for Chrome, but I rarely use Chrome and again it has to be open to work.

Anyone know of some other method? Would need to work on an Android phone, an Android tablet, or Windows computers.

It seems like notifications might show up here: https://live.xbox.com/en-US/Messages

..but I no longer have an Xbox or Gold so I can't test it nor see if there are any options to be notified by email when you receive a message.

Response by poster: Yes you can definitely look up messages on the web but as far as I know there's no way to get an active notification out of that.

If there's an RSS feed of that page, If This Then That will be able to ping you wherever you'd like to be pinged.

Response by poster: There's no rss but in researching that I found a Firefox extension called Alertbox that's supposed to detect changes on a webpage, then send an email or sound an alarm. Still have to set it up and see if it actually works.
