Security Reporting Management System? Guard Patrol Administration?

I've been tasked with creating (well, refactoring and redesigning) a web app for managing a security company. It includes call logs, encounter reports, regions, locations, duties (patrols), various kinds of bulletins, and other things. If I were to search for existing software that covers the same purpose, what would I search for? What is this kind of thing called?

I know that if I want a system to take care of published information on a higher level than HTML, I'll want a Content Management System (CMS). If I want to deal with tracking bugs and features in a piece of software under development, I want a Bug Tracker, or maybe a Project Management System. If I want to handle a taxi service, looking up a Dispatch System might help.

But what do I call this kind of system, that handles just about every aspect of managing the employees (mostly guards) of a security company, as well as alert, bulletins, services, logs, and internal secure company communications?

I'm looking for existing examples of such systems to get ideas for features, to seed (SEO-wise) this phrase, and to build a landing page while the system is under development.

Try Contact Management, Call management. I worked somewhere that used Request Tracker (RT), which might meet your needs and is customizable.

This might be a slightly different focus than what you're thinking of, but I've heard police and dispatchers frequently refer to the software they use as Computer Aided Dispatch.

Response by poster: Maybe a question I had meant to imply, but didn't, is - what do people/companies use, including these kinds of automated database systems, but also aside from them. Does anyone use paper forms anymore? "Paperwork" is the stereotypical bane of every police officer, but has that become a skeuomorphic term, or is there a legal requirement in law enforcement for a handwritten paper trail?

If private security companies (or even individual investigators) aren't using paper, are they using spreadsheets? Generalized timesheet products? If you're such an individual, what do you use for various kinds of reports, and what do you find most frustrating with it?

Sorry for making the question more complicated late in the game.
