How to find someone to customize your Tumblr?

Tell me the best options for finding someone to customize a Tumblr page.

I have a basic template that I like but I want to find someone who can design a nice header/banner for the top of the Tumblr blog according to my instructions. Any recommendations for the best places to find Tumblr designers or graphic designers that would know how to do this?

I briefly browsed ODesk and other sites like that but I feel a bit intimidated by the whole thing. I would feel better if someone had a good recommendation. I read through some of the reviews for the designers but most tend to say they specialize in Wordpress.

It sounds like all you want is an image created for your banner. If that's the case, you just need a graphic designer. What blogging platform they're experienced with, if any, isn't as important.

If all you need is a custom Tumblr banner, there are people on Etsy who do exactly this, and like 900 of them on Fiverr.

Depending on exactly what you want, there's a good chance that you could learn to do this yourself fairly quickly, probably with free tools and possibly without having to install any software on your computer. I don't know if you want to go that route, but it's certainly an option.

Alternately, Deviantart might be another good place to find someone.

I would just learn how to use Photoshop. It's Tumblr, so it actually doesn't matter at all and I doubt you want to pay someone. (I say this as someone who had thousands of follows on my Tumblr before I decided it was dumb and shut it down. I did not have any special graphics at all. Beside, "followers" won't see anything on your Tumblr anyway, probably -- they will just see new posts of yours on their dashboards.) And asking strangers to make a banner to your exact specifications for free seems less than ideal. Best bet would just be to make it yourself. Google can tell you how to do anything. I learned how to make gifs (that I posted on my Tumblr) by just googling and finding articles and YouTube tutorials. I also added custom HTML to my Tumblr theme to add or remove certain layout features with guidance from various tutorials online.
