Playlist About "The One"

I need music recommendations for two separate, but related, categories: 1. That giddy feeling at the beginning of a new, good relationship and you think you want to be with this person for a while 2. When you're pretty sure you're going to marry this person, or be with them forever

My music tastes are generally more indie, but I will take pretty much any music genre. Bonus points if the song is on Spotify.

For 1:

This is why Florence + The Machine has The Drumming Song.

Can't link to music stuff from work, but Charli XCX's "You're the One" would fit your first criterion, at least.

Kate Bush, "Oh, to Be In Love" gives me that over-the-top, giddy-in-love feeling every time.

Maybe Josh Ritter's Kathleen? Or Bright Smile. Temptation of Adam is gorgeous but has a bit of a dark side.

Not so much indie as... retro... but some of my favs:

Darlene Love - The Boy I'm Gonna Marry
The Dixie Cups - Chapel of Love
Natalie Cole - Everlasting Love

Built to Spill, "The Weather"
Clem Snide, "All Green"
Dessa, "It's Only Me"
Mother Mother, "Let's Fall In Love"
Nada Surf, "Are You Lightning?"
Old 97s, "Buick City Complex"
Semisonic, "Singing in my Sleep"

And pretty much the whole Give Up record by Postal Service. I'm sure there's more, but I haven't felt this feeling in so long that my otherwise impeccable jam recall skills are rusty.

#1 go-to song in this scenario, however, will forever be always Rachael Yamagata, "1963" (lyrics). I have a cold, black heart and that one gets me every damn time.

I am reluctant to share because it is so special to me, but... guess I'm a sucker for the expression of squishy feelings, so here: World Party: She's the One. (I've heard Robbie Williams also recorded the tune, but I've never bothered to track down his version.)

The Police's Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic is giddy enough for the first list, and lyrically apt for the second one.

For that falling-in-love-and-you-could-be-the-real-thing feeling, nothing quite captures it for me better than the Pretenders Show Me.

For category two (feels like this will last foreverandeverandyouknowIcan'tbegintodoubtit), Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Here Comes My Girl is perfect.

And all the best to you and "the one" as you start this journey together!

I Always Knew by The Vaccines fits category two pretty well. And if it's any help, when Mrs Peteyjlawson and myself got married, our first dance was to Everlong.

Prince - Forever In My Life (from Sign of the Times). He seems to have scoured Youtube free of infringements suitable for sharing.
