The cat's daily barf

Almost every morning our 15-year-old Annabelle throws up about a half-ounce of clear liquid, without hairball. This has been going on for several years. Otherwise, she is the picture of health. Any ideas?

Has she been treated for worms? My cats had a similar throwing up problem and it wasn't until one actually puked up substance with a worm in it (ugh, so gross!) that we figured out the problem.

Our Siamese had this as well. Try thinking IBS issues for her. We had to do special food and meds.

You need a vet. They will do blood work and parasite checks and get her back on track in no time.

Seconding stomach upset of some kind. With my own cat, that was a side symptom of his renal disease; I had the renal disease under control, and the vet told me that the stomach upset could be managed with regular old Pepcid AC (a quarter tablet crushed and mixed with his food).

Check with your vet, though (I imagine that if it's been going on a while, you may have done already, however).

Is it right after eating? My cat eats too quickly if allowed and will do this as well (she doesn't throw up her actual food, but she gets her stomach upset enough to throw up a little bit of liquid). She is also the picture of health and has nothing abnormal on blood tests or exams. We have slowed her down by putting her dry food out on a cookie sheet, so she can't eat it as quickly as if it were in a bowl.

What does your veterinarian think is going on?

My experience is the same as stormpooper. Kitty is on 2.5mg prednisolone daily and fed rabbit protein food.

Is it before you've had a chance to feed her in the morning? My cat used to do this many mornings when he was getting fed at 11 PM then not again until 7:30 AM. If we slept in on weekends it seemed more frequent.
