Does anyone have an recommendations for good video editing or film making seminars? I've got a pretty good background in filming and editing, but, looking to expand my knowledge and have a budget. Can be anywhere in the lower 48 states.

Hmm, this is hard. Depends a lot on your budget and your goals. Werner Herzog runs a school that might be of interest. Honestly, if you're just looking for skills YouTube is developing into an amazing resource. You can find tutorials and discussions of most subjects if you're willing to put in the self-directed time.

About 5 seconds after taking my first camera out of the box I realized I had nothing to shoot. I eventually attended The Film School in Seattle and recommend it without reservation. It is truly an intense and life-changing three weeks.

If you want to understand story and character, nobody else teaches what they do. Besides, three weeks with Stewart (Rebel Without a Cause) Stern is alone worth the tuition. He's 91 now so that opportunity won't last much longer.

You will not be using a camera at all. You will be learning how to direct actors, though, among many other things. You will leave the program knowing more about story, structure, and character than almost anybody you are likely to work with.

I found Rockport terrifically useful.
