Going to the Big Dance this weekend. For the music, not the basketball.

March Madness = free Muse concert. This is very good. Stuck at the venue all day waiting for them to play? Not so good. Survival tips needed!

Muse is headlining this Saturday's Big Dance concert in Atlanta's Centennial Park. Yay! And it is free! But we (2 parents and 2 teenagers) have never been to a festival style concert before and are not excited about the three groups that are playing first. How early do we get there? Parking/transportation from outside the perimeter? Are we stuck inside the park all day in case they reach capacity? Would love to be close to the stage but aren't sure how that works with the different crowds moving in and out.

For parking, my advice is definitely park and ride. Depending on which direction you're coming from, head to a MARTA station with free parking and ride the train.

It is an easy walk to Centennial Park from the World Congress/Georgia Dome/Phillips Arena/CNN station (which has the longest name in the world) on the blue line or from the Peachtree Center station on the gold/red line, so you don't even have to worry about changing trains.

I'm thinking about going as well, so I'm interested in what answers you get to your other questions.

Fans often grab positions up front and suffer through all the opening acts because they want to have a good spot for the headliner. However, since the other acts are all hip hop, there will probably be a big crowd transition right before Muse and you should try to get as close as you can as soon as the last opening act finishes.

I'd recommend bringing earplugs.
