Is there a Fresno gay community - open-minded churches, gyms, etc.?

A dear female friend of mine, mid-30's, recently moved to Fresno. She is a professional with a good, solid job who isn't into the bar scene, and is having trouble locating a liberal and/or gay community within Fresno. She is looking for churches, gyms, cycling or running groups, bookclubs- anything to connect with like-minded people. Any suggestions?

She could check out the Fresno Quaker Meeting where she's bound to meet some liberal bookish folks, gay and straight.

There's an LGBT Community Center, but it looks to be mostly support groups. This list has some sports teams. And a perhaps out of date list of businesses and resources, including churches (under 'Spirituality').

If she keeps striking out, me-mail me and I'll ask someone from Fresno. (However, people I know from Fresno a) left Fresno and b) are almost all straight.)

Liberal community? I recommend the Tower District. Even though it's known for its bars, there are a few nice cafes (like Teazers) that are open during the day and frequented by some great people.

There also is an LGBT club at CSU Fresno that will likely have resources for her, too. They have a booth near the library on campus that is usually manned by one of the members during weekday daytime hours.
