How To Ensure a Phone is Logged Out of Google

I have a broken cell phone that I dropped. I have insurance, so they will replace the phone. However, the phone was logged into my Google account, so once it gets fixed, I am afraid that somebody might get it and be able to do bad things to my account. How do I handle this?

Change your password. You won't be able to log on on the phone.

Best answer: Also, you can enable two-step verification, which is a good idea anyway.

Best answer: If you have a gMail account, login from a computer, and find the text at the very bottom of the page that says "Last Account Activity". Click the Details link, then the "Sign out of all other sessions" button.

You'll want to log into Gmail from a web browser and click "Details" in the lower right hand corner underneath the message list. You can click "Sign out all other sessions" in the window that pops up to force it to ask for a password.

I would both change your password and do the "Sign out sessions" thing. The latter can help, but I'm not positive it will work for all Google services (YouTube, Voice, search, etc). Changing your password should always be standard procedure when you lose a computer / phone / etc.

2-factor authentication, as sharkfu mentions, is also a really good idea.

Best answer: Another thing you'll want to do for your Google account is revoke third-party access to your account information.
