Bespoke tailor in Toronto?

The other questions deal more with alterations. I would like to get a woman's suit made. I am hard-to-fit and my go-to place (Eddie Bauer) has changed their designs so they don't work for me. (The new pants are curvy -- and I am not. And the jacket is longer -- and I am, well, shorter.)

I love the suit at J. Crew, but the petite only goes to size 12. I am a 16.

So instead of hunting for a nice suit that fits me -- I think I'd like to get a suit made. Any suggestions on a bespoke tailor that will make a woman's suit in Toronto? I know what I want it to look like and can bring pictures, but don't have a pattern.

This is a wild stab, but maybe approach one of the tailors doing work for court attire? They're already making pants and jackets for women.

I'm sure that they might be able to adapt their usual work to an 'ordinary' suit. And if not, they would certainly be able to direct you to someone who could make this for you (probably in the same neighbourhood).

I can only speak to my experience with the people at Imperial Robes. Excellent work. Not cheap, but that'll be true of any of these places.

Also, there are these bespoke tailors who come to town every so often, setting themselves up at some airport hotel for three days or so. They take your measurements, go off and work their magic, and then come back later for delivery and tinkering.

There's a whole bunch of them. Google "Hong Kong tailor Toronto", and there's a number of them listed. Some of them do suits for women.

I'd link, but a couple of those sites are making my work filters very angry.

Lescha,
If you finally find one, please let us know how you make out. Like you I've been thinking about getting a suit made, but don't know any other woman who have had one done, so I haven't been able to get any recommendations I trust.

Have you checked out Tom's in kensington?

they have a lot of different styles, and I'm pretty sure that they would alter it to fit you. sorry for not linking to their actual website - there was some audio on it and I'm at work, so I had to shut ti down really fast. The people working there can be kinda crabby, though.

Since it's a suit, perhaps you could start with bespoke men's tailors in Toronto to see if they make suits for women, or if not, who they'd recommend?
