Best prices on ski rentals & lift passes at Steamboat near the Sheraton?

Next month we're staying at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort in Steamboat Springs, CO, paid in part thanks to a conference that my spouse is attending there. We'd like to rent skis for a couple of half-day ski outings, and are wondering what the best option is. The Sheraton has its own attached rental store and we've used them in the past, but we thought they were a bit on the expensive side. Is there anything less expensive within walking distance? (We won't have a car.)

In case it matters, I'm a very experienced skier, will be bringing my own boots & helmet, and need only skis, poles & lift passes. My wife is more a beginner and needs boots & helmet in addition to skis, poles & lift passes.

Have you checked out Liftopia for your dates?

They usually have the best deals on lift tickets that I can find. Occasionally they have pacakage deals with lift tickets and lessons together.

Otherwise, I can't help you with Steamboat specific stuff.

We stayed at the Trailhead Lodge (a Wyndham about a mile south of the Sheraton resort) this summer. They had a free shuttle into town. We used it a couple of times (although we had a car and bikes) and it took about five minutes. I'm sure the Sheraton has the same and will drop you off wherever you need. No doubt the cheaper stores are there.

It looks there is a rental store here too though which is definitely walking distance.

Response by poster: Thanks for the pointer to Liftopia! I'm checking the dates and options there.

I'll try to check pricing in the stores near the Sheraton too.
