Unknown Closet Object

Last week an unknown object fell out of my closet. Can anyone identify this weird looking thing?
It is made up of ridged metal strips with a lip at one end, attached together by a strip of durable adhesive tape or film that allows it to flex (see pic for flexed image) closer to the lip edge.
It fell out of my bedroom closet when I knocked a shoe off the shelf, which then smacked the inside of the sliding mirror doors. So it could have been sitting on the shelf at the back, or attached to the door somehow. The doors still work just fine, and I had a pretty good look at them and I can't see how adding any more parts would make them work better.

Response by poster: Nope, they're definitely not nails. They're not the right shape, plus they don't have points.
It is about 1.5" tall. I should have put something in that picture for scale.

Best answer: tss has got it.
Used to fasten hardwood flooring using a Porta-Nailer.
They don't have points to reduce splitting of the wood.
