How can I find an affordable temporary housing in Davis CA?
I'm thinking about taking an introductory course on massage therapy at a school in downtown Davis CA from January 14th to February 6th, 2013. I currently live in VT and don't know anybody in the area.
I need an affordable place (ideally less than $400) to stay during the program. I would be happy sleeping on a couch or on the floor. Ideally I would have an access to a kitchen so I can prepare my own food.
How can I find such places?
I've already checked couchsurfing and airbnb.

Put an ad on the Davis craigslist to sublet a room. When I went there several years ago, that is how most people found temporary housing.

There's a ton of great people in Davis. You can probably even walk into one of the big apartment complexes and ask at the front desk if they could help you find a tenant looking to temporarily sublet a free room. The Davis wiki is excellent and can probably point you in the right direction too.

Here's the Sacramento Craigslist for subletting. You're pretty safe anywhere in Davis, and the bus system is pretty good for getting downtown if you don't have a car.
