Need a magic little Holiday spot in LA!

Looking for a little Holiday magic before a dinner date tomorrow in LA.
So, the lady friend is the coolest thing ever and she's been unendingly patient and supportive the last few months and I was all TIME FOR SURPRISE DINNER. I'm now realizing that we'll have quite a bit of time before dinner to do something nice.
I was set on that Griffith Park light show before I realized the city had already stamped out my nascent holiday dreams. I'm looking for other light displays or a nice place to have a drink somewhere between downtown and WeHo. I'm up for anything! If you need a magic little spot, lay it on me.

You could hit the ice skate rink in Pershing Square (check to see if you need to reserve) and grab drinks at the historic Biltmore Hotel across the street.

I haven't been there yet this year, but usually the W Hotel in West Hollywood has a festive skating rink right next to a bar.
For Christmas lights go here or here.

Also, the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel usually has a menu of special holiday drinks that are about the price of a movie ticket. I try to stop by there for a drink a few times a year because it's just a fun experience to have. Always great people watching, and it's the most iconic historic Los Angeles watering hole there is... pretty much every glamorous star in history went there and it's fun to pretend you're one of them. (I actually saw Liz Taylor there once... But she's probably not there now.)

Probably not the best place to get a drink, though I'm sure there must be nearby options. :)
