Self-publishing can't be that hard? Right?

In 2013, I want to put out a monthly zine-esque short publication and charge $1 each. I want to sell them online. What is the best way to do this? I have no experience with selling things online whatsoever.

It's going to be a twelve part series. Any experiences you'd like to share with either making zines or selling things online would be appreciated. Thanks!

All my zine friends sell through Etsy.

Do you want to be part of a zine community, or just sell your own stuff?

For online sales, I like Etsy and Storenvy. Etsy has the potential of integrating you into the zine community there, and Storenvy is much cheaper(free), but you do all your promoting yourself.

For e-book sales, I like using Gumroad.

I'm guessing the money isn't the object here, but you might want to consider charging a bit more, as the credit card charges might take out a more significant chunk than you'd like.

Yeah, it's gonna cost more than a dollar per zine just to do the copying, unless it's only a couple of pages. Think more like $3, minimum.
