Are there any Sandy-related volunteer efforts happening in the NYC area on Thanksgiving? I'm looking to do some volunteer work for a few hours, and it would be great to know which groups/organizations are accepting volunteers on short notice.

Rockaway Taco is also organizing volunteers to help in the Rockaways on Thanksgiving, mostly serving food but it seems like other tasks as well. You can sign up here.

I'm helping out with Gobble Gobble Give in LA, and they mentioned that the New York group was going to do something for victims of Sandy. But yes, they take volunteers on the day.

Try asking the Rockaway Renegades.
