Title and artist for boogie-woogie song.

Back in around 1974, my father used to crank his new stereo and play this song to scare me. I would run out of the room and hide under the bed.

It went "Hey babe, you want to boogie, boogie-oogie-woogie with me" It was acapella I think, and a very deep gravely male voice. There were more words, but I couldn't hear them from under the bed. Can someone help me slay this demon, with the title and artist please?

Isn't it amazing the weird things kids are creeped out by? For years I couldn't listen to the "I buried Paul" portion of "Strawberry Fields Forever," and Ennio Morricone's "Man With A Harmonica" still gives me the wiggins.

Why did Amazon try to send me "hurl.exe" when I clicked on that sample?

For those who don't know, John Hartford was a great storyteller, songwriter and musician and is still revered in acoustic music circles. He wrote many great songs and performed on the O, Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack.

Response by poster: Thanks for that ... not near as scary as it used to be, and I love the Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack. Go figure...

Sounds like your dad, whether inadvertantly or vertantly, must have instilled a bit of irrational fear in your concerning that song, which is really a pretty trite bit of folly, but I could see how the voice could be a little spooky. It just so happens that my favorite local band, Dread Clampitt, does a great, souped-up, very funky version of John Hartford's, Boogie.

It's h url I'm guessing. Amazon has that for all their samples, seems to be harmless with firefox.
