Firefox extension for page searching

Is there a Firefox extension available that will allow me to highlight a word/phrase in a page, then right click to open the "Find" bar with the highlighted text automatically in it?
I don't have a direct answer for you (this is a tough one to google) but you can drag search terms to the Find bar

the google toolbar (I currently have the Google one, not the original clone) allows you to right click -> googlebar items -> search for selected text. But if you want to use your own default search engine as pre-configured in the Find bar, i dunno.

Uh.. Firefox already does this, no? I can highlight text, and the right-click context menu includes "Search web for " , which opens in a new tab via my default search engine. The new tab bit might be from my settings, dunno.

Ack, sorry, misread the Q.
I just copy/paste into the find bar.

If your cursor is clicked in a blank area, just start typing and the "Find" bar comes up at the bottom with the word/phrase in it, as well as highlighted on the page.

yeah, surely Find As You Type is even easier then what you're trying to do?
I'm not sure it's turned on by default: Go to Tools > Options > Advanced > "Begin finding when you begin typing"

Response by poster: Find As You Type is a very nifty tool I didn't know about, but I am hoping to find a tool that won't require typing, just right-clicking.

doesn't do exactly what you want, but a combination of search engine manager and context search should sort you out.
you'll be able to customise the search bar engines used & then do a search on a high-lighted (lit?) word with the right click menu.
saves typing it out.

Find As You Type is quicker than you think, because you usually just need the first few letters. If I want to find apple scruff on this page, app does it (my name contains the only other ap on the page)--that's faster than right click and highlight.

I'm with weapons-grade here. Find-as-you-type, once enabled, is great. And once you've found the term you need, you can simply press F3 to find further instances of that term. Unless I'm also misunderstanding you, this should do just what you need. If not, good luck.
