internet design

I need to contract an Internet website graphic design job to a skilled designer. Does anyone know of any websites I can visit to find a list of potential hires?
Digit has a section showcasing up-and-coming design talent. I've seen some really cool stuff in there before, and it would probably lean towards the less expensive side.

A good resource is Aquent. They don't have an office close to you, but unless you have to meet with the designer, that shouldn't matter. Go to the Marketing/Creative Services section, then choose Portfolio to see samples. At the very least, some food for thought.

bama, a former colleague of mine does some of the best work I have seen...I hate to put a blatant plug for someone here, and her site isn't fully functional yet (she spent the summer preparing for her wedding!) but...my email is in my profile, etc. I would love to help her work get out there!

Many of the developer/designers that contribute to Open Source Web Design also do freelance work. I have my favorites, but looking through the examples would be the best way to see if anybody catches your eye.

Check out AIGA (American Institute of Graphic Arts). Click the link at the top that says "Need a designer?" You can view portfolios, specify professional level (including students), or even post the job online.
