Old-school self-help and/or philosophy in the style of John Wooden?

There are many books by and about John Wooden and his particular type of philosophy and self-help techniques, including his Pyramid of Success.

What are others in this style? It's mid-Century, American Midwest, homespun and old-school. It's the kind of thing that is parodied in the character of Ron Swanson's Pyramid of Greatness.

How about Warren Buffet's value investing? Seems like the sort of thing that might be generally applicable, outside of investment banking that is.
