Where is the least annoying/most helpful Breaking Bad fandom on the internet?

Breaking Bad fans: Where are your favorite places to discuss and/or obsessively read about Breaking Bad on the internet? What websites/podcasts are doing the best recaps? I'm also interested in being able to pose questions about references to past seasons and that sort of thing, so I can make the most of the last season!

I really like the A.V. Club's recaps. I don't typically stick around for comments on non-Metafilter/Hairpin sites, but it looks like they also facilitate a decent discussion in there.

I always enjoy Alan Sepinwall's reviews on Hitfix

nthing the AV Club (although with the caveat that some of the episodes are better done than others. There was one this season that was just a long report of everything that happened that week, i.e. nothing reflective whatsoever).

Like Kaszeta says, Sepinwall! His review of the most recent episode

Unfortunately, hitfix does a poor job of making back-reviews easy to browse, so you have to dig through this list or do a search for the episode title. At that link, you will also see links to Sepinwall's weekly podcast with Dan Fienberg, in which they discusses Breaking Bad, along with other tv news.

Early season (1-3) reviews are [easier to find] on his old blog

Slate have been running back-and-forth discussion articles on Breaking Bad this season; it starts just before episode 501 and runs week-by-week from there. (Spoilers for season 4 on that page, obviously.)

The AMC official podcast is a mixed bag; interesting to hear from Gilligan et al, and the discussion of the mechanics of producing the series is fascinating, but they're very tight-lipped about plotting and they rarely get much insight from the actors they occasionally have on. (The most recent one, with Anna Gunn, is a notable exception.)

AV Club is my go-to for BB discussion.

...or switch to the Recaps tab, although a few non-reviews still manage to sneak into that list.

The Bald Move podcast does a great job of critiquing each episode, as well as discussing listeners' observations, theories and predictions, both the plausible ones and the hilariously far-fetched.

Grantland! Andy Greenwald's recaps, podcasts, and other random posts are here, and a longer piece here. The comments are unmoderated and fairly hit-or-miss, though.

I read the AV Club too, but have found pretty gross mens-rights/misogynist tones to some parts of the discussion--so read with caution.

Yeah, Alan Sepinwall is your best source IMO. He not only does deep recaps with analysis and emotional impact, but he also interviews the cast and crew as often as he can. IIRC he's sat down with Vince Gilligan for very detailed Q&As at the beginning and/or end of every season.

And not he doesn't just do it for Breaking Bad, either, although I think it's his favorite show. When he becomes a fanboy he goes whole hog, like he did for Chuck, Community, and Cougar Town (wait, I'm sensing a pattern here...), and will sometimes be the MC for a ComiCon panel or similar get-together.

I surprisingly really like the breaking bad reddit.

Television without Pity has a fairly in-depth group of forums on Breaking Bad. I can't speak to the recaps though because I don't read them.

Note, TWoP (that's the way they abbreviate it) is strongly moderated and they are relatively quick to reprimand people for breaking the rules (some of which are not easily explained or understood). If you're used to Metafilter's style of posting you might initially have trouble posting at TWoP. If you're unfamiliar with the TWoP way of communicating, you might want to read the Breaking Bad forums for a few days (or weeks) before posting anything yourself.

Agreed on AV Club and Sepinwall. I just found the podcast The Ones Who Knock and it's quite good. You can try scrolling through here for all the other recaps and podcasts.

And if you're truly obsessive, you need this set up as your wallpaper (from this Reddit thread).

The Slate recaps are (unsurprisingly) pretty dreadful. I go for Alan Sepinwall, sometimes Rolling Stone or AV Club. If you wait a while for the comments to appear at Hitfix, there are a lot of nods back to earlier episodes.

OMG Grantland is great! It just led me to this appearance by Aaron Paul on The Price is Right in 1998.

I'll second The Ones Who Knock podcast and I think the Breaking Bad Insider podcast done by the actual crew is pretty awesome

Vulture's recaps are pretty good and offer other insights that I don't always get from the show (or from AV Club).

So far: I'm finding the observations interesting but the hosts just a little bit too fratty.
