LAB color space without Photoshop?

I've gotten used to using LAB color mode for cleaning up my digital photos. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to Photoshop. Is there a free alternative product that allows work in LAB?

GIMP is an open source image editor that is reasonably similar to Photoshop. It'll let you work in LAB.
